Oy. Where do I start? I really, really disliked this book. And before I get started compiling all the notes I wrote down while I was slogging through this, let me just announce in case the author reads this that YES, I enjoy m/m erotica, and YES, I enjoy Highlander romance. Look at my reviews by shelves if you are reading, Mr. Hughes.First and foremost: THIS IS A BRAVEHEART COPYCAT. There is no getting around it. The main character is a Scottish freedom fighter. He first falls in love with a Sco [...]

rarelydustybooks/2012/I was disappointed with this story. Maybe because I was expecting something different. There isn’t much romance and the sex wasn’t…sexy. The author spends most of the story talking about battle strategies and the politics of Feudal England. There are too many secondary characters and subplots for a story of this length (novella). The author wanted to impress upon the reader that the Scots are fierce fighters and proud people. But it was mentioned so much it became a d [...]

I love historical books but I wasn't that into this one. The story was good but there wasn't much romance in it. There was much intrigue and treachery amongst the characters. I was left wondering who was the Princess of Wales' cohort. I got a bit sad on the situation with Prince Edward and Ragnar on the clearing but really liked how all turned out. I'm just sad that it didn't had more romance in it.

2.5 stelleIt's not so easy to give a rating at this book, if it was to be a historical romance M/M novel I think the writer has a little messed up with romance part of the story, the narrative style is rather cold, and the love story that should be a focal point of the book, doesn't seem likely so or it isn't very exciting. On the other hand the historical context is well developed and deepened, with an interesting plot that speaks about the period of deep struggle and rebellion beetween Scottish [...]

I was surprised to find this historical romance among the catalogue of Ellora’s Cave since it’s more about the “history” than the “romance”, and Ellora’s Cave is, after all, an Erotic Romance publisher. This doesn’t mean there is no romance or sex, only that it’s not the main focus of the story, and the two main characters meet, if I remember well, 3 times and spend 2 out of 3 of that times in bed together. So if you are searching a pure romance, well maybe this is not your pic [...]
