You know, I've always been skeptical of New Adult as a genre, probably because it never felt like anything relevant to my experiences. I was pleasantly surprised by this one, because the writing was so dark and funny, and the main character didn't feel like an overgrown/over-articulated teenager. Shay's written so maturely, and her history is already so dense that it's hard to believe she's only twenty-two. The book's description doesn't do it justice, but it does highlight what I would say is t [...]

*I was given a copy of the ARC from the author for an honest review.*O-Kay!!!What the FUCK just happened? Did the book just end that way? Maybe my book reader doesn't work right. But unfortunately it does.I've got to tell you, this book was a mindfuck. And I say that in the good way. I seriously didn't know where was up and where was down. I liked Shay as a character but her roller coaster of emotions had me dizzy, actually in some cases nauseous. Just make up your mind already. With so many man [...]

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.Paranormal stories have always intrigued me. "INK: Fine Lines," by Bella Roccaforte, delivered everything I expected in a paranormal book and more. Bella grabbed my attention from the start, and I couldn't put the book down. (It's a good thing, because I had a 12 hour car trip ahead so I didn't have to stop reading.)"Fine Lines" is about a young artist, Shay, who is troubled by frightening nightmares. As gruesome as Shay's dreams are, they a [...]

WOW! Why did I wait so long to read this one??? It was so good!!! Love the authors writing style. The story is told in different points of view which I absolutely loved. We have Shay the main character, she is a comic book creator/designer, we have Aiden the love interest (one of them) then there's Eli the other love interest, it's a love triangle of sorts. But then we have Gabriel, another love interest. The story has a paranormal feel and some things that make you wonder in the story what is S [...]

Bella Roccaforte does such a wonderful job at pulling and her reader into a story that quickly spins out control. Shay is a normal woman. She's been heart broken and has grown from it. Her career is taking off and is giving her an outlet. That is until the worst happens. On her birthday her ex comes back into town and breaks into her house. From there things get a bit out of control.Shay has to not only learn to trust again, but learn who to trust and how to trust in herself and in the fact she k [...]

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the Lovers of the Paranormal group in exchange for an honest review.I really enjoyed this book -- interesting, well-drawn characters, great pacing, fun story. It's also really refreshing to see a female protagonist in an unexpected profession, and have that become a central part of the action as well. The author clearly has a knowledge of and affection for comic-book art and culture, and it shows in the details in this book. The only drawback [...]

Warning: If you don't like paranormal, then this is the book for you! When I met Bella, I warned her that paranormal isn't my cup of tea, so be prepared for me to not like her book. Well, hmmm maybe I should quit saying that I don't like paranormal, because I definitely liked this book. Or maybe it is Bella's style of writing that makes me forget that freaky, freaky stuff. The way she flushes her characters out. The way she weaves her story into something, well, magical. So, if you don't like par [...]

Your amazingly talented! Keep up the fabulous work!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ms. Roccaforte for offering up your story.A multiple first person narrative novel, and it worked. Color me surprised. Ms. Roccaforte never leaves you wondering whose head you are in at any given time and her characters’ voices are clear and distinct. There is a lot of good in this novel.Shay is finally finding some success as a comic book artist. Her newest venture Sanguine Specter is much anticipated and deliciously dark. What [...]

When she wakes she used these dream images fro her comic book. Yet something goes wrong and soon the specter is aware of her presence. The next day, the murders she depicts in her drawings [...]

Everything I love about the paranormal. I have to say that I love the various POV with the characters. The reader knew exactly what the true motives and feelings of that character. Which made the story and made the dynamic between the characters that much better. Shay is a graphic artist who designs graphic novels for a living. Little did she know that the scenes 'Gabriel' the specter shows her in her dreams have come to life that is until her neighbors are brutally murdered. A murder Det. Simmo [...]

First off I would like to thank the author Bella Roccaforte for giving me an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.Wow this book could be phenominal. This is not the typical paranormal haunting story. The author introduces us to a whole new world. This is a dark twisty story with some comedy thrown inof The book was an easy read set at a good pace. She gave you the right info at the right time no annoying dumps of information or dull points in the story line. All the characters had a specifi [...]

We live in the era of creative replication where a successful endeavor in this or that genre is endlessly repeated until the original itself loses its value. It was therefore my pleasure to read a story that was actually an original idea and a fresh take on the NA genre. There were a number of things I really liked about the story - I liked the storytelling skill of the author who is able to expertly navigate the murky waters of multiple core characters and flesh them out as human beings - not c [...]

First I would like to thank Lovers of Paranormal group for giving me this book for an honest review. The main character Shay has a lot going on in her life. She has dreams and Gabriel her dream man shows her things. She makes her living as a comic book artist and her story lines are coming to close to reality. This story had me going back and forth. I don't normally read what I consider "scary" books. To me this book is scary, but at the same time, I couldn't stop reading it. I still want to know what is happening, who the specter is, whom will she choose. This is such a great story. It really sucked me in. The writing is great, characters and secondary characters are awesome. The storyline flows and keeps you guessing. Now its on to book two!!!

    • For the Love of Books says:

I just finished an ARC of this book and was enthralled right off the bat. I really liked the writing style and the different points of view. You could tell the characters each had their own voice. I do wish that Shay was a little less concerned with her comic and more concerned with the events unfolding but I think this was a great beginning to a new series! It was new and original story which I appreciated!

2 Stars "It Was OK"INK: Fine Lines is the first in the series and follows Shay, a young woman aspiring to be a comic book artist. Her twin sister is dead, her mother is dead, she is somewhat estranged from her father. The story begins with Shay's birthday, her on-again-off-again boyfriend Aiden shows up at her house and, despite her protests decides to crash at her place. Shay awakes from a nightmare and heads off to her art studio in her garage to draw out the scenes for her comic book, about a [...]

I have been given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The main character of this book, Shay Banes, is an independent comic book writer and illustrator who finds that her comics have started to reflect, with deadly accuracy, a series of actual murders. One wordINTENSE! This book is paranormal, mystery, thriller, and romance all rolled into one great story. We meet the main character Shay who has so much crazy going on you really have to feel for her. Besides being in a seriously sexy and annoying love triangle she also happens to have some very crazy and scary dreams where a terrible entity is committing horrible murders which Shay uses to draw a comic series. Problem with that is the dreams start hitting a little closer to home than she would [...]

I've been holding on to this one for a few weeks now, I wasn't sure that I could handle something heavy at the time, and I am really glad that I waited. Shay is a typical girl torn between two loves, Aiden and Eli. To me they both seem like good choices, even though Aiden has a tendency to leave Shay just when things get serious. Though that isn't the point of this book, Shay is having "dreams" of gruesome murders and while she believes that they are just dreams, reality proves that they are rea [...]

I really enjoyed Fine Lines. I love how it has the POV's of the different characters, and I love the writing style. It keeps you interested. This was hard to put down. I love the way Shay dreams of things, and they end up about something that was real. I love Shay, I love her sassiness and attitude. The only thing I do not care for is the love triangle. I don't like love triangles. The story is so good with this book, the love triangle does not bother me. As I am reading, I am very intrigued wit [...]
