The heavy fist hit me square in the forehead. My face felt as if it had exploded. Pain shot down my body.Everything went bright red. And, holding both sides of my head, I crumpled to the floor. This book contains some of the best writing I've seen from Goosebumps. Stine actually takes the time to set up a plot and characters. Also, he's working with what is perhaps the scariest Goosebumps invention: Slappy, the living dummy.Amy Kramer is 12, and has a pretty crazy family. Her dad is a bald ex-hippi [...]

Okay, so it's not The Brothers Karamazov, but how much of the literature I read is actually literary?Night of the Living Dummy II is classic Goosebumps and that is pretty impressive when you give R. L. Stine his due. Here is a man who has written hundreds tails of terror, knows how to make genuinely suspenseful scenes, and keeps it clean enough and nonviolent enough for third graders. In Night of the Living Dummy II, a budding ventriloquist finds the tables turned on her when she discovers her ne [...]

There were lots of things I didn't like about this book. It's not really a sequel, for starters. There is no continuation from the previous book and, in fact, makes it a little confusing. How did Slappy turn inanimate again? I do understand, though, that these books are written for kids and, as such, shouldn't have to be read in order. Amy's relationship with her family was frustrating and the thing with Sara made me mad. The ending was the only thing I liked about the book and I wished it had p [...]

Chucky's back! As I read this book I kept picturing the doll from the Child Play movies. Not as good as the first book. Slappy doesnt say much to other people, that was the best part in my opinion, seeing what he'd do and say to other people. He didn't do much of that in this book. I guess R.L had writers block or couldn't figure out what to have him say. I think the book ended too quickly. 120 pages is good but I felt there wasn't enough "action" with the dummy. Still a cool book, makes me want [...]

This book was way better than the first one. The idea of a living dummy will always be creepy to me thanks to R.L. Stine.

It feels like only yesterday I was reading about RL Stine's first tribute to that 90's cultural phenomenon known as ventriloquism. It begins with probably one of the best opening lines in GB history."My name is Amy Kramer, and every Thursday night I feel a little dumb"If you aren't hooked at that point, this isn't the book series for you. Turns out Amy's family has Family Sharing Night which is a fun tradition her parents have come up with. Basically they force their children to perform for them [...]

This is a really good book. I really got goosebumps.Amy is a good ventriloquist. She has a brother named Jed and a sister named Sara. Sara is an artist. She has a dummy named Dennis whose head is always keep falling off. So, she asked her dad if he could buy her a new one. The next day, her dad buy her a new one. She was happy. One thing that Amy didn't know was that dummy is Slappy, the evil dummy that slave children. The dummy winked at her, she told her dad the dummy winked at her but her dad [...]

I chose to read this book because I remembered my teacher had read goosebumps night of the living dummy (first one) to our class when I was little so I decided to read the second book of the night of the living dummy series since I enjoyed first one when I was little. I enjoyed this book because when you read the book it feels like you're there. My favourite character was the dummy because he was pretty savage and managed to blame all the bad things he did on Amy for quite a while. I learned tha [...]

This is a quote from the dummy, "You are now my slave. I will rule you. And if you don't, I will" Now you're thinking it's like, 'I'll torture you.' noooooo. It's "I'll color your sisters room and throw paint on some of her art." What a threat! a little dummy a quarter of a persons size will get her grounded. Too bad she realizes AFTER he did everything that she could just wrestle him! The first one was good, though.

Currently rereading my original Goosebumps collectionThe sequel to Night of the Living Dummy sees Slappy as the main antagonist. While it's not as good as the first, it still has some brilliant scares! The moment that stood out for me was when Amy goes with Slappy to perform for a kid's birthday party. I don't wanna give too much away, but what happens next is terrifying. A great book in the series.Read from October 6, 2013 - October 6, 2013

Someone picked this up in a used bookstore. I rather like the format of Stine's books, but the kids were never wild about them. Of course, I'm still haunted by Magic. Nicely creepy, without being too creepy. I totally understand why some kids love them. I would have when I was younger.

    • David says:

Another good book. Part one only introduced Slappy. This one, he was center stage. I really like these books. Maybe I'm too old for them but honestly, I haven't read anything five star quality in a long time, and I'll take a good read where I can get it. R.L. Stine has this game figured out!

    • Leah says:

I have finished this book today and think it's a very scary thing that can happen. Splappy is evil and always causes trouble to the eldest daughter Amy. Slappy makes her whole family think that she's crazy seeing the dummy walk on its own, but is she the only one who saw the dummy walk on its own?

    • Juliet Marie Tomlinson says:

It was very scary but I enjoyed it as it kept me on the edge of my seat!

Better than the first one but Slappy just isn't my favourite

    • Tiffany Spencer says:

Night of the Living Dummy 2PLOT: Amy Kramer, is feeling completely unexceptional compared to her talented sister Sara whose paintings have won contest and been featured in museums. That is until her Dad brings home a new dummy (Slappy) and she sees it as a chance to brush up on ventriloquist skills for Family Show and Tell, and maybe to make some money on the side entertaining kids at her best friend's party place. But weird things start happening after she speaks some weird words on a piece of [...]

As I'm sure my reviewers know by now, I'm a Goosebumps fan. I don't plan on getting the entire series, but I've been picking out some old favorites from used bookstores. And this one stars everyone's favorite dummy: Slappy, who is probably the most iconic of R.L. Stine's creations. When watching and reading about Goosebumps, I was surprised to learn that in fact, the very first Night of the Living Dummy book - you know, the one with Slappy on the cover, despite him not actually being the main ant [...]

In the second installment of The Night of the living Dummy, we have Amy (the main character), her siblings Sara and Jeb, their parents, and Amy's best friend Margo (I'm assuming thats a nuckname for Margaret).Amy has a dummy named Dennis, but his head pops off a lot, so Amy wants a new one. Before long, her father picks up Slappy at a used store, and she reads the words on the card. After a little bit, trouble starts.I remember the joke about termites in a dummy from the first book. Can't really [...]

2.5 stars. This book is much like the first, even in terms of the characters personalities, which is my main problem with it. Everyone seems to be screaming, crying, or some other shitty way of communicating. The parents aren’t all that great people - at one point they believe the prankster kid is telling the truth so it MUST be her who ruined the carpet, which is weird usually the prank kid gets in trouble lol - and they legit think ruining a painting or spilling some paints his the worst offe [...]

January, Night of the living dummy 2, R.L SteinWell, walking talking dummy. Reminds me of Chucky but Slappy (the dummy) is just straight up creepy. Come to think of it almost all dummies are creepy. Well if you dont say some ancient words in a dummies pocket and you make it come alive, then i guess they're not that creepy. Ah Amy we learn dont we. So when amy's parent think that she is mentally insane she at least tried to catch the dummy in the act of doing something creepy.I guess the theme of [...]
