Fact: A real ice storm inspired me to write this book. I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil your reading enjoyment!

WOW!!! This is one of those superb mystery thrillers where my one line review would be don’t bother reading my review, just read this amazing book! It is a real page turner and I can safely say that you don’t need to have read the earlier two books in the series to appreciate this one, because I haven’t read them - but I definitely want to now!Megan Scott and Michael Elliot are guest speakers at a careers day special at a well established, exclusive, expensive boarding school, miles from a [...]

Icy Silence is the first Sandra Nikolai book I've read. I must admit, I hadn't heard of her before she contacted the Crimebookjunkie book blog who I guest review for but I'm glad she did as I've discovered a new author!Icy Silence is written from Megan's point of view, she's a ghostwriter with an investigative journalist as a partner, Michael. They're stranded at an elite boarding school after doing a careers talk for one of Michael's old friends. Little do they know when they arrive it's going [...]

The author did an excellent job of keeping the tension level high, raising it along the way to a final satisfying climax.Megan Scott puts a romantic interlude on hold to accompany Michael Elliott on a trip to an exclusive college where he will give a talk on investigative reporting. Suddenly, students lives are in danger not only from unexplained human sources but from the dangers of a widespread and extended ice storm. Tension rises as circumstantial evidence points to an unresolved event in Me [...]

When Michael is invited by his old journalist colleague Dave to give a talk at the prestigious fee paying school where he teaches, Michael agrees and takes along his girlfriend, ghost writer Megan. On arrival, there seems to be some police activity and the couple are informed that two of the students, Natalie and Andrew, have been found dead in what looks like a murder suicide. When Dave is taken to the local police station for questioning in relation to the students’ deaths, he asks for the pai [...]

Another enjoyable addition to a good series and I think I am growing to like both Megan and Michael more with each book although Megan still seems to end up in some highly dangerous situations. In this story though some of those happened not entirely by accident but by plans that just didn't work out as expected. Of course do to the setting and weather this story wasn't bogged down as much as the earlier books by long descriptions of clothing and food and the descriptions that were included were [...]

I really enjoyed this book, the tension was kept high all from the start and the characters are well written and are very interesting to follow. The story has a good pace and it keeps the reader interested and wondering what's gonna happen next. However, I was a bit disappointed by the end, I felt something was missing, the twists weren't entirely surprising, I didn't really feel the main characters were in any real danger and, in my eyes, the last three chapters felt a bit rushed. That's the on [...]

Good but not great. Was interesting but did not hold my interest as much as others. The couple Mike and Megan are nice but not enough personalization

An isolated boarding school with extremely strict rules is the setting for career day. Michael and Megan were invited to speak to a class about their jobs. It was also going to be a chance for Michael to catch up with an old friend. When they arrive, the school is nothing like either of them imagined. A weekend trip becomes so much more. This book is a very easy read. A simple mystery with no real big surprises. I liked the story line. It was well plotted and written. The main characters don't se [...]
