First off I received my copy of this book through a giveaway. Now onto the review.I didn't like this book. I tried to, but I couldn't.While the poem's fantasy themes were right up my alley I found the execution immature. The same basic rhymes (bad & sad) used over and over from poem to poem, suspect grammar and bizarre changing tenses led to an awkward read. It almost felt like I was reading a student's homework assignment. Honestly once I realized the book was entirely self published I won [...]

OK . . . I'm the author, so I may be slightly cheating here. But, the book contains 27 of my earlier "best" poems, all favorites, all fully illustrated, and everything was done to my exact specifications on a four color press. Illustrations in color from some of the most magnificent artists in the world, now in the public domain -- Bussiere, Wyeth, Pyle, Hughes, Pirner, and a host of others. The images took over six weeks to find and verify as public domain, or get licensed. Each page is bordere [...]

Well paced, intriguing life themes tied to pseudo-historical events or fantastical ones involving gods, medievals/vikings, and other intriguing magical characters. The author's post-poem commentaries add welcome context to fill in some mental leaps. Learn more at his website (fantasypoetrybyjongutmacher)

Definitely one of my favorite books of poetry since all of the poems are in my fave genre: fantasy. I especially loved how the poems were easily read almost like small short stories but with a good amount of rhyming (only once in a while needing to slow down and reread to be sure I understood any twists). I liked the poems that overlapped with modern times/events more than I thought I would at the beginning reading about the overlap in the prologues. And yes the snow white poem was one of my fav [...]

I received this book in the mail today and instantly read it. It's a short book (I believe it's listed as 102 pages, and it's poetry which makes for a quick read)Now, I am so behind on my reading pile that I haven't taken time to really write some reviews but I felt compelled to mention that this is a book worth reading. It is filled with classy and visual poetic prose. The book itself on the inside is beautiful. The images, and the BORDERS!! It was really well put together. As for the only negat [...]

Received from /author in exchange for an honest review. This book and the poems within were so beautiful and captivating. It's a lot different from any poetry book I've read and I mean that in a good way. Some of the poems sounded more like a story than a poem, but it still worked out pretty well. Some of my favorites were The Legend of Evermore, Star Bender, Alone, and A Winter Dream. My favorite was definitely Rainbow Bridge though! I teared up as I read the poem because I have 3 cats and it m [...]

Wonderfully written poems about violent battles that stirred and rallied the ancestral genomes of my Nordic soul as well as touching and moving verses about love and love lost, and for all the heroes and lovers be there the hope of a reuniting and redeeming hereafter - real? mystical? - atop a surreal "moontite" cloud "somewhere in the sky". I received this poetry bookfrom GiveawaysI gave it a good long lookover the past couple days. Poetry isn't really my thing in general, but this collection is pretty good for the genre. I feel like the collection is a bit formulaic and bound to convention in places, and if the author would break free from rhyming and go free-form more often it'd serve him well, but as-is the book is still worth reading.

This was a book I received in a giveaway. I was not compensated in any manner to give my opinions on the text. Truthfully, I didn't like it. It didn't draw me in in any manner. It confused me in parts and it in others, I just didn't like it. I understand the concept behind the creation of the prose, but just wasn't feeling the concept per se.

I received this wonderful book of poetry which I thoroughly enjoyed from a giveaway. This is my honest opinion: I enjoyed reading the stories in poetry format, so much so I read them more than once. The illustrations were awesome! A couple of my favorite poems were 'The Good King' and 'Snow White.'

win. Will review once received. If you are looking for a short book this is definitely the book for you. I was surprised that I ended up enjoying this book. I will admit I had some faults. At times the writing seemed a little immature, but I believe it didn't take anything away from the story. A good read.
