      Finished this volume of the narrative this morning and picked vol 3. This first one tracked the expedition from Pittsburgh to Vermillion, SD. A modern day road trip along this section of the Missouri river may seem pretty mundane to todays travelers, but it was extremely hazordous and difficult for the Corp. They were constantly exposed to river hazards and potentially hostile native American groups. I have found my most useful traveling companion for this read has become Google Earth, however t [...]

      This is an amazing book. It is exceptionally well written and is one of the top ten books I ever read about the "American Experience." I would like to take this journey and experience the sites Lewis talked about . The book is an adventure story of bravery, compassion, and wonderful encounters at the dawn of America.
