I love this book and book series!Simone Beaudelaire always impresses me with the heartfelt tales she weaves. Though this particular book is a Victorian era story, it is incredibly moving and valid for even today's difficult and prejudice-filled world. It will make you cry, laugh, and the sex scenes are steamy and romantic!I am never disappointed by this author. The first book in this series, KEEPING KATERINA, was epic with its drama, tragedy, and passion. I was curious what the follow up books w [...]

Five stars!I liked this story, it was wonderful how everything worked out. Also, the interactions between the Bennett family and friends was great. Lastly, the steamy parts were really good.

Devin’s Delimma is a historical romance that takes place in England and in India in 1856. It is Book 2 of the Victorian Series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. The story starts with Harry, which is short for Harita, and her cousin, Fanny staying at a hotel on the beach while Fanny’s father, Malcolm Fletcher hires a new solicitor to write up contracts, including Fanny’s marriage contract. The solicitor is Devin Bennett and he has a keen interest in Harry Fletcher. Harry thinks she is n [...]

I love historical novels and I jumped at the chance to give an honest review in exchange for an ARC. Harry is the heroine, I loved how different and clever her name was, which was Harita. Very pretty. Devin, her love interest seemed so sweet and honest and kind to me, and I found him to be a great match for Harry. Their romance started so nicely, Devin catching Harry and her cousin out while they'd walk in Brighton. Then he wanted to court her and little by little we got to see what Harry's life [...]

I like the villain…. No, I don’t mean I’m on his side or anything – just that I like the way this kind of character contributes to the angst of the period and makes for interesting reading. He makes it so difficult for the heroine and hero to get together – for romance to flourish (and I agree with other reviewers that this is a good romance). The villainous uncle is portrayed, I think, quite realistically. He has so much power and brings this to bear against what we are hoping for as [...]

Once I started reading this I had such a hard time putting it down, it had me that hooked. This is a sweet historical romance that canters around a maid servant Harry and a barrister Devin who come together because he is hired to draw up a marriage contract. Things go well between the 2 and they plan to marry until her uncle takes matters into his hands and tries to destroy Harry. Can Devin find Harry before it is too late or will he loose her forever. I received an advanced copy of this book fo [...]

This wasn't as deep as The author's other books. There seemed to be a lot of chatter by everyone. The story was good in parts and interesting about how the other "ladies" looked after each other. India's philosophy is also interesting.
