A very entertaining, informative, witty and honest true story. In the digital age we live in, online dating is becoming more appealing and prefered for a number of reasons. Work schedule, the bar scene, etc. The author embarks on a titanic mission to find her true love on the internet. Sounds easy? As I found out, not at all. I really enjoyed that the author did not edit the e-mails, thus giving me a good perspective of how difficult the task of finding Mr. Right is. Many profiles are misleading [...]

Review copy provided by authorI do not normally read non-fiction but this book has "frogs" in the title and one on the cover (How can I say "no" to frogs? You know I love frogs.). With a disclaimer that states, "This book is based on true events. Names and places have been changed to protect the innocent, the guilty and the ones being fitted for a straitjacket." you know you're in for a fun ride!Sweeney is a witty, humorous 35-year old gal who just happens to be 5'11". At 3" shorter, I know how [...]

I picked up Kissing Frogs in Cyberspace by Dianne Sweeney with a bit of reservation, as part of my book club. I didn't know how I could enjoy a book on cyber-dating since 1.) I am a dude, and 2.) I've been married for almost a decade. But I thoroughly enjoyed it.Sweeney writes with a very conversational style and it is a very quick read. The pitfalls of all the dates she goes on is expressed with a very keen wit, and in the end you empathize with her for all the guys she has ever gone out with. [...]

As advertised this is one of those fun books you read to take your mind off things. It's so easy to read that you want to just finish it in one sitting. It's one of those books that wants to be read aloud. People who don't read will be entertained by this. This is a memoir about internet dating. If you've never dated via the internet then by reading this you'll get a pretty good idea of what it might mean to do so. Dianne tells funny anecdote after funny anecdote, realistically, pointing out fla [...]

“Kissing Frogs in Cyberspace” details Dianne Sweeney’s poignant, at times disturbing, and frequently hilarious encounters with men that she meets through various online dating sites. With a style that hooks the reader from the beginning, Dianne takes us on her journey of dates, dumps, and disasters as she discovers the world of Internet dating is blessed by those seeking true love and plagued by those just “seeking.” This is a must readI laughed and laughed. I have never emailed an aut [...]

This was by far the best leisure read I've ever had. I recommend this book to everyone! If you want something that will make you laugh while at the same time giving you hope and assurance that you aren't alone in your quest for your prince charmingis is the PERFECT book to buy!!! Loved, Loved, Loved. This book. So sassy. I found myself calling my friends and reading them passages. A must must read.

    • Marsha says:

Dianne’s book is a fun, fast read, but is not encouraging. Just by the title of the book, you know you are not going to read a success story. There is no one who Dianne describes who seems particularly interesting to seriously consider dating, but I also noticed that Dianne didn’t particularly give anyone much of a chance either. In reading her book, I am reminded of why I do not particularly like dating using the Internet and haven’t done so in over ten years. The last guy I met for coffe [...]

This book Kissing Frogs in Cyberspace is a sassy rendition of one woman's hilarious adventures through the layers of internet dating. I think we all can imagine what it's like to be knee deep in the depths of internet datingd Sweeney validates our skepticism - it IS really like that at times! She did not edit any of the correspondence between her and her potential "princes" - so what the readers get is raw interpersonal skills at their best! This book is witty, anecdotal, told in short sketches [...]

Fast & Funny No NOT Funny, Hilarious! I lost track of how many times I laughed out loud reading this book. I say 5 stars because it's a quick-zip read, and you're smiling all the way.I am not a single person out there looking for dates or the perfect man, as this story is about a gal just that. But am instead about the same age and married with 2 kids. I thought this story, though about cyber-dating and its roller coaster, was fun and engaging. I felt I could still totally relate to what Dia [...]

Talent for storytelling, funny without getting self-flagellating. The book is about the difficult subject of cyber dating and dating in general. The only problem is that I always thought cyber dating was fraught with danger and boredom and there were no really positive experiences to persuade me to change my negative position on the subject. My only friend who cyber dates met a serious and dangerous stalker on-line, they had a three month affair and she continues to plague him a year after their [...]

Another one of those books that I want to kick myself for waiting so long to read! I loved this book! It was well written and funny. And it doesn't hurt that I was able to relate, having been on a few dating websites myself. I have a couple stories I could addLOL! I found myself nodding my head in agreement to a lot of the observations regarding dating websites and everything to do with meeting people from such sites. I'm so glad to know that I wasn't the only one with frustrations when it comes [...]

It's like a storybook tale right? Well, not exactly! But, in my opinion it was just as good and had an even better message! This book is a quick, easy and entertaining read about one woman's journey to find a man in Cyberspace but instead finds something else, herself.Dianne makes internet dating entertaining as she describes the various characters she encounters over her 6 month journey. She pokes fun at human nature and our capability to be someone else on the web. She is insightful, pointing o [...]

I originally was drawn to this book because I met my husband through an online dating site and was curious to see what Dianne Sweeney's take on it would be. I didn't think I would finish this book because the first chapter was so incredibly boring and she seemed to drone on and on metaphorically about training wheels and blah blah blah. It was after this that the book became a fast read. I found her candor to be charming and her experiences to be relatable to my own. I laughed out loud at some o [...]

I read this book cover to cover. Once I started I couldn't stop! It was a facinating story of how Dianne met and sometimes dated "frogs" guys she met from online dating services. It made me remember back to 1999 when I was trying all this out myself. I went on a few 'not so great' dates myself. My story had a much happier ending than Dianne's though. I was living near Seattle and got emails, chats and eventually calls from a lady in Michigan. What could happen from that distance? She moved to Se [...]

It was cute. I remember my cyberspace experiences and hearing this made me laugh, chuckle, and reminisce. Though this woman seems to have more experiences than I did. It was funny, but there were some times where the dialogue did fall dry. I really enjoyed the ending though where the author inserts the advice her friends give her about how we should learn to date ourselves and let love grow when it's ready and so on. There was some other good passages that I can't remember off the top of my head [...]

Really enjoyable first hand take on the world of dating Online. You tend to always hear the good stories about how people fel in love and met "the one" on Eharmohny or match or whatever, but this based on a true story recounts one woman's expereince with these online dating sites and the image is not one that is filled with hearts and kisses and magic and all that. It is a really funny, real take on life, love, realtionships and women's indiviudality. Highly recommended! Fun read. I couldn't put [...]

This book is a wonderful read, its hilarious, witty, with a compelling charm. I could not put this book down. I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good laugh, or for those who are finding it hard to put themselves back out into the dating world (especially the cyber world!). Dianne Sweeney did an amazing job capturing all aspects of the dating world today. If you give this book a chance, I guarantee you'll fall in love with it. To the men out there, I guarantee you'll walk away a little [...]

Wow what a fun read! I didn't expect this book to be as funny as it really was! I found myself really having a hardtime putting it down and actually read it one night until 3am! I really enjoyed reading about all of Dianne's dates and even though so many of the circumstances were sad since the guy was so terrible, the outcome was really one funny read! I would love to read another book of Dianne's and recommend this one for any woman who is either looking for love or just looking for a good laug [...]

This was a light fun following the writer's venture into online dating. She has some funny experiences and some really good insight into her life and life in general. There were some laugh out loud funny parts, and some parts I just had to skim through because I just couldn't relate or found her interpretation a bit annoying. Some of the story didn't flow real well and her experiences weren't really something I could relate to, but I still had a fun time reading this book.

    • Chris says:

This is a funny, smart, and well-written account of dating in the 21st century. The author describes her experiences with online dating sites-the good, the bad, and the just plain weird-with a witty and engaging style that pulls the reader in. You will nod your head while smiling in agreement as Dianne Sweeney takes you along a fun and poignant journey towards discovering that the important thing in life is being true to yourself.

    • Sandra Degrechie says:

This is a MUST read book for anyone looking to start dating again! The authors honesty is quite refreshing on how she uses her own experiences and real emails to show how cyberspace personas are not always the real deal! Pictures are tell a thousand words but in the ins and outs in the cyber world you don't always get what you expect! It is an amazing journey on how in the essence of life is love youself first and never change yourself to please others! I loved this bookI know you will too.

    • Ben says:

This book was so funny! I laughed out loud so many times! This author has a great take on the world of online-dating that I have never seen before. It's also great for both men and women. It draws you in instantly with its insight into hilarious situations that arise from the online-dating world. The author did a terrific job at sharing these experiences and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read and tons of laughs!

    • Emily says:

This book follows Dianne, so it is a memoir, logging on to internet dating and figuring out the world of online dating. The writing is hilarious. The emails that Dianne sends to the perspective dates she meets on the sites. The commentary on the different profiles. It follows Dianne on the dates that she goes on and how she choose what to do next. Just a very amusing book that I would recommend to anyone looking for just a little amusement.

    • Joanie says:

This was April's selection for the Chick Lit Book Club-it chronicles Dianne Sweeney's 6 month foray into internet dating. Sweeney does a good job of making the book realistic but still humorous. Her experiences are hilarious but she doesn't present them in an over-the-top way. Although the book ends with hope, it doesn't all wrap up with a perfect fairy tale ending-much more like real life. I hope this book takes off for Sweeney.

    • Terina says:

I ordered 2 books and got them this morning! I'm so happy! I started and finished the same day! This is a very laugh out loud account of online dating experiences from the author's point of view, and although I've never gone the route of online dating, I've had my fair share of first dates and the nerves and preparation that goes into each!I look forward to more from this author and will definitely tell my Canadian families and friends to get this book, smiles guaranteed!

    • Lyz says:

Terrible. Complete waste of time. The author is documenting her experience with on-line dating and is trying to share "funny" stories with us. Basically, I found her unlikeable. No wonder her dates are crap, she's a crappy date. I finished the book since I had paid for it, but she should have paid me.

    • Calla says:

This is a fabulous read! If you have ever wondered about, tried, or looked upon someone who has done on-line dating in a different view - you MUST read this book! It is absolutely amazing. Every page was full of stories that will catch you laughing out loud, and once you finish it you will have a new sense of empowerment to find out who you really are!
